About Raku Pottery

Raku is a random firing process in which not every piece comes out. Some pieces don't get the coloring that one could hope for. Other pieces are cracked or broken in the firing due to thermal shock.

Caring for Raku Pottery

  • Raku pieces are not completely vitrified so they are somewhat more fragile and cannot hold water unless otherwise stated.
  • If needed, dust with a dry soft cloth.
  • Keep out of direct sunlight to avoid color fading.
  • Raku pieces are considered decorative atwork and not to be used for food, so they are "non-functional".
